BAC’s Carbon Fiber/Aluminum
Quarter Midget Axles are approximately ½ the
cost of titanium axles, but 16% stronger, and
are cost competitive with aluminum axles, but
51% stronger. This results in an axle of greater
value. The increase in strength results in 1)
greater durability on the track (wheel banging)
2) less maintenance (don’t have to replace bent
axles every time wheel or wall contact is made.)

U.S.
Patent-Pending Design
The BAC Carbon Fiber/Aluminum
Axle design utilizes the highest strength carbon
fiber material which is fabricated via a
filament winding machine (not hand-rolled carbon
fabric). This results in the highest
strength/lightest weight axle possible.
The BAC Carbon Fiber/Aluminum is a homogeneous
shaft that has no keyway cuts or snap ring
grooves cut into the carbon fiber. Keyways are provided
in an integral aircraft aluminum alloy sleeve
which is pressed and bonded (fused) over the entire
outside diameter of the
carbon fiber shaft.
This patent-pending sleeve design encapsulates
the O.D. of the carbon fiber shaft in all the
critical areas. Therefore, even if an
impact load exceeded the ultimate bending
strength of the axle assembly, the carbon fiber would never fracture, splinter, or
break off.

Increased Acceleration!
The BAC Carbon Fiber/Aluminum Quarter
Midget Axle is the lightest axle ever produced
at 0.92 lbs! This amazing decrease in
rotational mass allows for a greater
acceleration rate of the chassis down the
straight-a-ways.

Stronger Than
Titanium!
Although the BAC Carbon Fiber/Aluminum
Quarter Midget Axle is the lightest axle
ever produced, it is also the strongest axle
ever produced (ref. Ultimate Load/Deflection
Chart). The superior strength is due to optimized laminate construction of carbon
fiber/epoxy of which the majority of the fibers are oriented along the X-axis
of the tube. The composite material properties, and ultimately the axle design,
were both derived from BAC's
highly successful carbon fiber sprint car
torque tube program (World of Outlaw Sprint
Series legal). |
